We’re currently looking for more code-oriented than design-oriented applicants. Your work experience and portfolio are secondary to your ability to think through and solve problems, and apply concepts you’ve learned to newer issues as they arise. Be prepared to show the cleverest solution you’ve ever devised to solve a problem.
Your flexible schedule means you might be scheduled to work with a client in the States or in Australia, but be able to take care of your local errands during local business hours. Your work schedule will be goal-oriented, customer-facing, and there will always be more work than time in which to do it. You will begin work immediately on client sites dealing with real-time issues. You will learn multiple online and offline disciplines simultaneously. Your ability for interpolative/extrapolative learning will be stress-tested. Insatiable desire to learn a must!
Things that you have to know:
HTML/CSS/PHP an ability to hand-edit code either locally, on the server, or through the WP backend.
jQuery familiarity only (do you know what it is and how it’s used?), if you’ve used it, even better.
WordPress 1+ years experience, know your way around; understand what/where/how to use the Codex. Experience in building, integrating and maintaining at least one self-hosted WordPress site.
